Ive never seen an episode but that looks surprisingly sophisticated considering it comes from an era of television not long after Mr Ed.

It's an acquired taste. I like some of the episodes but not others. I liked "Many Happy Returns" and "The Girl Who Was Death".

I watched every episode in the '60s on Saturday afternoons. I've thought about it off and on since. What makes this series unique is the extensive use of symbolism. The kind of symbolism you get in silent movies. To see what I mean, watch the YouTube clips from "Metropolis". You don't get that kind experience from today's movies. Everyone interprets symbolism differently which makes them personalize it. Great writing, acting, and production are the final ingredients that make it a classic.

There hasn't been a good remake of anything from the 60's. The Prisoner will not be the exception. This show is unique and cannot be duplicated.

Absolutely agree with comments below: this is one show that should NOT be remade. Period.

McGoohan, as actor, writer, producer and director, cannot be replicated. One would be out of their mind to even consider remaking "It's A Wonderful Life," "To Kill A Mockingbird," "North BY Northwest," "A Matter of Life and Death" - and any number of true classics of the big screen, or small.

"The Prisoner" is stands firmly in their ranks and is as iconic (along with Ron Grainer's music).

I don't think this has EVER been surpassed - by anything.
