Cuando ya han finalizado la especial del día los 6 primeros coches, ha sido el español Carlos Sainz (VW) quien se ha adjudicado el mejor crono provisional, sumando así su segunda victoria en esta edición del rally, tan sólo 52" por delante de su compañero de equipo el qatarí Nasser Al-Attiyah (VW), y 422 por delante de su también compañero el estadounidense Mark Miller (VW). Como consecuencia, "El Matador" sigue al mando de la general con una ventaja de 520 sobre el qatarí.

Now that the first 6 cars have finished the 12th special, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW) has achieved the best provisional time, by winning his 2nd stage on the 32nd Dakar, but only 52" ahead of his Qatari team-mate Nasser Al-Attiyah (VW) and 422 in front of another of his team-mates, American Mark Miller (VW). As a result, in the general standings, El Matador is still in the lead, 520 ahead of the Qatari.
