Seems I remember reading about the Pharisees and the Sadducees in the NT. They were referred to as the "elite" of the "chosen people", the Jewish hierarchy. Sophisticated and educated, and probably had higher IQs than their Christian counterparts.

In the end, what good did it do them?

@AnonEmouseMan I used to be mormon. Thank God I'm OUT and FREE! It doesn't mater who created Word Perfect. The Fact remains that Mormonism is a cult! Pres. Hinkley said that Mormons believe in a jesus that is not the Jesus of the Bible. What does that tell about Mormonism? Mormonism is a cult!

@AnonEmouseMan I learned about COJCOLDS as a member, serving in multiple callings (bishoprics, EQ President, high council, stake mission presidency, etc.)

Probably if church leaders had been open and honest about some of the bad things in church history, it wouldn't have seemed so shocking when I learned of Joseph's polygamy (including marriages to teenage girls and already married women), translation of BoM by rock in a hat method, etc. Cover-ups and denials make them seem dishonest .
