Andrew Clement's step into wrestling and out of soccer came at the Indian Open in Rural Retreat Virginia. Andrew and his older brother A.J. had never been able to compete together in any sporting event because of their age difference, but they had wanted to for a long time. A.J., who (at the time) was a first year wrestler as a freshman at James River High School in Midlothian Virginia thought that Andrew might do well at wrestling because of his heart and competitive spirit, so we started looking at possible tournaments. The Indian Open was chosen because it allowed both of their age groups to compete and was a nice drive from where we lived. After picking the tournament date and place, A.J. worked intensely with Andrew for the next 3 weeks leading up to the event to teach him as much as he could before tournament weigh-ins. At that years Indian Open they each competed in 2 different weight classes and finished 2nd

  • Additionally, Andrew went on to have multiple 50+ win seasons with one of the hardest high school nation schedules available. PowerAde, Ironman, Beast. etc.

  • Andrew went on to be 19th overall college recruit (in all weights) in the nation coming out of his senior year in high school. 2 World Titles, 6 National Titles, 6X Greco State Champion, 5X Freestyle Champion, 4X Middles School State Champion and 3X District, 3X Regional and 3X High School State Champion, he only wrestled 3 years in high school.

  • I have a little cousin who wrestles 75 pounds from Colorado in the 10 and under bracket. Im not saying he is the best by far, because I have seen him get beat, but I think he would pin both of these guys. But I do like the competition in this video.

  • At this point the winner had never stepped on a wrestling mat and had only been learning at home from his brother (a first year wrestler himself) for 2 weeks.
