Patrick Moraz - Soon.
Tim (yea78861) asked me to send this song to him. This is a passage from "The Gates Of Delirium" called Soon played by Patrick Moraz, keyboard player from Yes. Sound only, but Yes fans will be glad to hear this rare performance.

IF SOMEONE HAVE THE SHEETS PLEASE SEND IT TO ME

  • this is absolutely beautiful and moving. <3

  • Alex, which Roger Dean painting is this? Where did the art originate? I have to buy this!

  • can i have tablature of this music????

  • Indeed it sounds like Keith Jarrett

  • I have seen Wakeman and Moraz both in concert both are great and do not need to be compared they both added so much to Yes. Did anyone else notice Roger Dean's Floating Mountains, painted years before the movie Avatar?

  • You sure? Isn't that Keith Jarrett playing? ;-)

  • THAT WAS REALLY AWESOME ANY CHANCE TO GET A COPY OF THE SHEET I ASUME THIS IS YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENT IVE NEVER HEARD IT PLAYED THAT WAY BEFORE WHAT A TALENT. THANKS DAVE

  • @russumm1

I agree with you on Moraz in Yes. And I think if the band had kept him, their music would be much more interesting n fresh of ideas.

When we listen the album Going For The One mainly Turn Of the Century n Awaken we can feel the most of those keyboard harmonies are not from Wakeman, they have some dissonances typical from Moraz.

Not by chance in the following album Tormato, Wakeman's conservative n marcial style returns n reigns without any trace of that previous fresh atmosphere.

  • @russumm1 I definitely hear echos of Keith Jarrett too.

  • I never realized that this excerpt from The Gates of Delirium was considered a song unto itself, nor that it had a name.

  • This is from the Yes Tribute CD, Tales From Yesterday.

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Moraz "composed" the opening piano solo to "Awaken". It does not sound like something Wakeman would have composed for himself. I'd also say that Patrick sounds closer to Keith Jarrett than to Keith Tippett--two very different players. In my 1975 Yes program, Moraz cites Jarrett as an influence...

I saw Patrick twice with Yes--my favorite of the two concerts was on my 21st birthday in Toledo in 1976. For me, Moraz was the ultimate Yes keyboardist.

  • He certainly gave The Moody Blues a second wind. wonderful stuff, sounds not unlike Keith Tippet, that jazz edge.

  • Nice Soon piano version !

  • Wow! What a beautiful version! The beginning sounds a bit like the opening to Awaken.

  • This is Fantastic, gosh, I wish Patrick would be invited back into Yes. Or is it just my imagination? Thank you.

  • Excellent Moratz. He is so good and so underrated by art rockers...his Moody Blues years and his solo work really show him off. His style is clear here with the Jazz treatment of a classic art rock song....a little of his Karu stylings which always thrilled me. He stands in the second tier behind Wakeman, Jarre, Vangelis but certainly with Banks and Downes as a European classically trained art rocker...and so many American and Canadian stalwarts.

  • That's beautiful music, Alex!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • wonderful! Thanks for this gem!

  • Yes! It´s pure jazz - unpredictible but that is it! :-)

  • Beautiful

  • WOW !! This is awesome !!! Wish I had some of your music to make a video with !!!
