@jebeja...Dear sister, as a Catholic I certainly agree with you. Jesus himself was a Jew and therefore it is logical that his fellow Jewish countrymen would be the first to convert to Christianity. Nevertheless, some Greek-speaking Jews started calling their community of believers the Universal Church or "Ecclesia Katholikos" in Koine Greek as soon as they began baptizing gentiles. As evidenced by St. Ignatius' writings, the early Church was already called Catholic by 100 A.D. Pax Christi +

@bruisedreed2007...We Catholics believe that we are R-E-D-E-E-M-E-D, not saved. To us, salvation is a work in progress. As humans beings God endowed us with free will, and it is our duty to cooperate with his grace. Didn't St. Paul say to the Phillipians, "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling?" If you believe that you are "saved" then you are basically denying the Final Judgment. We won't know if we are saved until we stand before our creator at the end of time.

Well i forgot the word save is used sometimes. Those who call upon the name of the word shall be saved. But i dont think it meant what the Evangelicals make it out to be.SAVED.I just cant imagine the apostles telling people YOU NEED TO BE SAVE.THEY MIGHT HAVE SAID REPENT ,BE BAPTISED AND RECIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.But i cant see them throwing the word saved all over the place.

I like that statement REDEEMED through Christ as opposed to the word Saved.I dont recalled Jesus ever telling some one they must be save.Reborn yes but saved i dont think so.Its strange how so many protestants throw that word saved.

Now thats what im taking about.TRUTH.The bible is the word of God along with the oral tradition.Prostestants refuse to accept the fact that the first christians did not need a bible like the one we have because they believed they were living in the end times. When the apostles were gone thats when books became important. But different people accepted different gosples for a time am i right .It took over three hundred years for the bible to be canonized.

@bruisedreed2007 I choose to be Catholic because like him,I found all the Biblical proof backs Catholicism. It is not possible to believe in Faith alone doctrine if you read James 2:14-26 especialy James 2:17.& Nowhere does it say the Eucharist is a symbol.Christ makes this clear in Jn 6:53-57.Perhaps you should research too before you judge,or is your pride greater than your Faith?

@bruisedreed2007 This is the very essence of what Jesus meant when He said "Abide in me," and, "You abide in me if you do what I command you, Love one another." Likewise the John the Apostle said, "Let us not love in word alone, but in deed (action) and Truth." Again, this is the very essence of "working out your salvation in fear and trembling, in obedience," and "praying in the Holy Spirit, keeping in the Love of God, and looking for the Mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto Life Everlasting."
Wen was the book of revelations placed in the bible.I understand the first version of the canonized Bible did not include it.

@umaara100...It was placed in the Canon of the New Testament at the Council of Rome in 382 A.D. I believe it was listed as The Book of the Apocalypse of John, and not "The Book of Revelation". GBU +Pax Christi+

I just read some of the comments regarding my comment of a month ago. May God help all of you. I only spoke the truth about this man. Salvation is of God ALONE. The last word Jesus spoke was tetelastai which means Paid In Full. My sin debt and yours was paid in full. May all of you cry out to the true God for salvation. A true salvation that only He can give to you through the work that Jesus did for you and not through your own works. Time is very short! May He bring you all to true salvation.

@bruisedreed2007...We Catholics COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU in that the debt of our sins was paid in full by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, there is still something we need to do to be grafted into his body. Not because Christ's sacrifice was not sufficient (It was certainly sufficient) but because our love and longing for him is eternal and shared infinitely with his whole body, The Church. St. Paul talks about this in his letter to the Colossians 1:24
