EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS (31 May 2011) "The European Union can and should do more to help those who are fighting against the tyrant (Muammar Gaddafi)," says Portuguese MEP Ana Gomes. The Socialist MEP, who is just back from visiting Libya, welcomes the establishment of an EU office in Benghazi but believes the rebels need more support from the EU.

In this video, she tells EUobserver how Gaddafi is "busy running around hiding" while his wife and daughter are in Tunisia and calls EU governments "ridiculous" for complaining about migrants arriving in Tunisia. "It is outrageous that EU governments are making such a fuss about this small number of people," she says.
