Loved these, in the 1960's when I was a kid! There were also boats in nearby Lowestoft that you drove yourself, and they worked like dodgems. Sadly, the boats are long gone, but nice to think the snails are still there!
classic, probably the oldest piece of Great Yarmouths history, Joyland has transformed so much, my dad said the centre attraction was Noahs Ark when he was a kid, it was a spaceship during my childhood dont know what it is now but the good ol snails have stood the test of time, my 83 year old Grandad wet on them as a kid and this year im introducing my 3 year old boy to them.

Hay! And I thought it was just me. After thirty years, I will go back next year and take my son on the snails, the Red One- note use of proper noun.

You have made my 2010 already.
THANK YOU for making and posting this.
I rode the snails over thirty years ago.
Now I live in Thailand.
Now I can show my missus why I love Great Yarmouth.
