Fur National Sept 27 2008 Arrest (1/2)

This is footage of my arrest outside Harrods by Metropolitan police for alleged harassment of staff of another fur shop, Joseph, several months previous. All allegations dropped several weeks later without even being charged. Here the police make conscious effort to block view of people around and unlawfully order members of the public to move while on public land. The girl arrested for obstruction of the highway (pushed onto road by police) was also released without charge.

This all happened on the morning of the annual London march against fur, taking place in the Kensington / Knightsbridge area of London.

Harrods continue to be the only department store selling real fur, and Joseph continue to sell fur despite years of peaceful lawful protest. Recent CAFT campaign victories include Diesel, Miss Sixty and Guess, who have all given up fur in the last year.

these protesters who were arrested totally deserved it as they were creating a public order offence. So think they need to get a grip... pointless arguing with Harrods they ain't going to say "lets stop selling this fur that make us £££'s because that guy with the board and long ginger scruffy hair with the ripped up combats on say's so." Yeah you're right the little 80-year-old girl-molesting owner of Harrods isn't going to listen to us, but public do and thousands are boycotting Harrods while they sell fur.

Police have a legal right to arrest and restrain, they dont have a right to inflict pain and suffering - thats for the courts. Any Citizen has the right to challenge and observe, also in this day and age the right to film. Oh the poooooooor police....

As for the subject of fur, it's a ligitimate commercial product desired by many people, so I have no problem with it being sold. But, since you object to that, what's next - leather belts, shoes, jackets, clothing, furniture, and automobile upholstery?
