Emergency vehicle lighting laws are so inconsistently stupid in the US. Green for POVs in one state, red or blue for others, some allow a mix, some states allow siren use, some don't, some make it a requirement to run them constantly, some only allow one light, others allow wig-wags and other lights, some allow a combination of lights.... I could go on... and that's only for POVs, I could rant about police, fire and ambulance lighting too! A lot of European countries have blue for everything :P

Green is used because its a color that can bee seen through smoke

@16goarmy Washington State.
Green ? .. That's wired that you can't use red..

@David4946 I could have used red but there are certain certification requirements such as 360 degree lighting, siren, radio, registered with the state, take a class to get certified to drive while using such equipment. The courtesy law makes it so all you need is a permit and a green light.
---------------JUST TO CLARIFY--------------
Our Engines, Ambulances, Command Vehicles use Red/White/Amber combinations

@lb611 my bad, apparently police use solid blue lighting in the state vollie fire use red and white?
bradfirec71 1 year ago
@bradfirec71 It depends on the state.

@lb611 Washington State has a courtesy light law. All you need is a permit to have Green lights. With Green you must still obey all the traffic laws and the green only requests that a driver yield or pull over. To equip your vehicle with red/blue/white emergency lighting you have to get your vehicle certified with the state and it is expensive. You must have a full compliment of radio, siren, 360 degree lighting, etc... The green LED's worked great for me!
