Taking Responsibility (The Atheist Experience)

People who overcome alcoholism and other things in life often attribute their success to a "higher power", but replacing a physical addiction with an emotional one is never a good thing. Matt argues it is far better for people to take responsibility for their own actions and credit for their own achievements. What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas, geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

When someone says "God bless you" to me I happily reply "God is your genie and answers your every wish? What if your god doesn't want to bless me or anyone? Aren't you just pissing him off then?"

I think things through. That's why I'm atheist.

If evidence for a god or supernatural claims are in quantum mechanics, scientists everywhere would have already made progress to that end. You are making huge speculations... conjectures. It's wishful thinking. Stop making shit up and snap into reality. Good luck to you in discovering the truth.

@YourDadisHAWT you already know religious people are ignorant. That will just stir up the cloud in their head more. All my family are catholic. I am the only one who is not. They say I am poor and going through hard times because i don't believe in God and being punished. They are mostly well off. I just say I know. lol and laugh it off

Respond to this video... Finally in this day and age people want to make a commotion and what a better way to do that than attack religion. Maybe that will put them in the limelight or get a few minutes of fame or something. Same as the preacher who wants to be heard of his knowledge. Science has more to offer than joining another "cult" that attack religion. Someone tells me "god bless you" I say "same to you" This is why I am not atheist.

@tangnatalaga No. This debate cannot go on forever because my intent isn't to convert you or anyone else. I am merely pointing out that humans, empowered with the current age of reason and ease of access to information, are realizing that beliefs in extraordinary claims without evidence is harmful and counter productive to our progress for the truth. A transistor is easily explained : A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch electronic signals.

@YourDadisHAWT By the way people call a flatbed truck a "skateboard". I choose to call physics God. The same way truckers call cops "bear" and flatbed truck "skateboard". It is just a word to me now. I can use it as idiom for something. I am not an atheist and not afraid or insulted if someone mention God. I don't like being an atheist because it is just another "religion" that attacks religion itself, and gets insulted by the idea of religion. Big deal the world has bigger problem to solve.

My objections are to extraordinary claims of faith, including the claims of Christianity, Islam, Wiccan, God is energy, or a feeling someone created us. Faith is the willingness to believe a particular 'god' or supernatural story despite lack of evidence. It's called gullibility and a surrender to the pursuit of the truth.
