Season 5 of Mad Men Delayed

Mad Men is trending on news that its fifth season has been delayed until early 2012. AMC has confirmed that it has ordered more episodes, but it's still unclear whether the network has reached a contract agreement with the show's creator, Matthew Weiner.

Despite rumors that AMC has asked Weiner to increase product placement, cut two minutes off each episode, and get rid of two regular cast members, sources close to the negotiations indicate all core cast members are currently signed on for Season 5, and that AMC has offered Weiner a $30 million contract.

At the moment, it appears AMC is prepared to continue the show sans Weiner if both parties can't work it out.

Why the hell would AMC even want him to take off two main characters? They should realize that the show is doing very well and bringing viewers to their channel and let him have total artistic freedom over who is in the show and what happens...This pisses me off.

This is what happens when the bean counters get involved. I still miss Sal and they want to ditch two core characters?? They've caught lightning in a bottle and they're gonna kill the golden goose to pinch pennies. Let the creative element continue to do its magic and you business types need to stop being so stupidly greedy.
