With a growing fascination in producing experimental stills photography it seemed natural, what with a recent introduction to movie production/editing to follow the same creative path into the bizarre unknown.

The idea, as with the photography is to produce a set of work that is not necessarily PC (or is that AC?) or work that doesn't follow paths or trends.

Convergence is an ongoing idea based around a simple setup using just water and ink. It is inspired musically by an old masterpiece of German band Tangerine Dream called Zeit.

Little did I know at the time that the video editing software offered many of the effects that appears in this film, but as it stands Convergence was filmed using hardware only using contemporary methods; the sequence was filmed upside down on a makeshift tripod using the invert mode on the old Sony F828.

All of the effects during the sequence were created live and are the results of a specific movement of water encouraged by the 'director'.

Intense artificial backlighting was used to create the 'black' space, of course inverted from the (as the eye can see) clear/white.

Only length editing has occured from the original 'hardware' video to it's final placement here.

The full length version will shortly be available for preview at Youtube..

I apologise for the lack of sound at this time but I aim to rectify that shortly.

  • @Vicky1973able - thanks a lot Vicky - much appreciated. D

  • Love the shapes being reproduced. This could accompany one of those 'screen' type fire places. :)
