Jim Morrison´s Grave In Paris

James Douglas Morrison (8 December 1943 3 July 1971) was an American singer, poet, songwriter, writer, and film director. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors, and is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock music history. He was also the author of several books of poetry, and the director of a documentary and short film.

Morrison moved to Paris in March 1971, taking up residence in an apartment. By all accounts Morrison became depressed while in Paris, and was planning to return to the US; however, he admired the city's architecture and would go for long walks through the city.

Morrison died on July 3, 1971, at age 27.

Morrison is buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in eastern Paris, one of the city's most visited tourist attractions. The grave had no official marker until French officials placed a shield over it, which was stolen in 1973. In 1981, Croatian sculptor Mladen Mikulin placed a bust of Morrison and the new gravestone with Morrison's name at the grave to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death; the bust was defaced through the years by the cemetery vandals and later stolen in 1988. In the 1990s a flat stone was placed on the grave, possibly by his birth family, with the Greek inscription: ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ. Mikulin later made two more Morrison's portraits in bronze, but is awaiting the license to place a new sculpture on the tomb.

Come on, Eileen. Jimbo was only one of the heroes/victims of that drug fuelled life style in the end of the 60´s. In fact he lives now here in Helsinki and has a summer house in Africa. This society is collapsing anyway. Jimbo is not responsible what is going on 40 years after his death in America and also more and more here in Europe...

My mother and father visited his grave some years before i was born... I will visit his grave with an woman that loves the Doors and Mr Jim/ James as much as i do ( I am 21 and have been listening to the Doors since i was 9 ) We will take a glass of wine ( any kind ) And we will say the magic words : May you rest in peace Sir Jim, you will always have an place in our hearts, cause you where the best and will always be the best artist that earth has had.

I seen jim's grave back in 91, it certainly wasn't wrote all over, at the time there were candles lit with poems on paper and flowers and beer bottles on the top of his grave. No respect!
