This is the intro and some gameplay footage from the Japanese RPG, The Last Story, by Mistwalker. It's currently only available in Japan and only on the Wii, but hopefully we see a localized version for North America.

The head of Mistwalker, Hironobu Sakaguchi, is famous for being the creator of the Final Fantasy series.

The Last Story is similar to the following modern games: Xenoblade (Chronicles) and Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii, Infinite Undiscovery and Darksiders for the Xbox 360/PS3.

It's similar to the following classic games: Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore for the SNES, and the Grandia series for various systems

  • I don't think "The Last Story" will amount to any sort of series, same with the previous game by the developers, Lost Odyssey, and Blue Dragon to a lesser extent.

  • @storino03 From the little I played of it, it felt quite mediocre. Not bad at all, but nothing great. I didn't play much, I must admit. I'd really need to play more of it to give it a fair shake, but the intro was lackluster and failed to grab my attention.

  • DAMN the best wii game i saw right now

  • I dunno. it could be because I"m not use to it yetl, but it just doesn't grab my heart like ff does

  • @ArrhythmicPulse The gunblade is just stupid, sorry. And the idea that there are "different" things in other worls is certainly fine... but there's a big difference between strange and flat-out ridiculous. Compare Seymour's hair to Crono from Chrono Trigger... both are unrealistic, but Crono's hair looks fairly reasonable. Seymour's hair is beyond silly. And his outfit, too. And most of the outfits in the game... and Wakka's hair too. Just a sadly ridiculous design overall for a game.

  • @FoxeoGames Nothing wrong with the gunblade and no I dont particularily like Seymour's character design but still, I accepted it because its another world and there are bound to be (and supposed to be) strange looking things and people in other worlds.

  • @ArrhythmicPulse If you don't think the FFVIII "gun blade" or the act of launching a dog off of a device on your arm is ridiculous... then you probably also thought that Seymour from FFX wasn't the most ridiculous character design in JRPG history. Blue hair antlers; I've got nothing else to say about that.

  • @FoxeoGames How is any of that ridiculous lol faill

  • @FoxeoGames I own FFXIII,but holy shit am i bored of farming gil.

I need like:A few million gil to get weapons to at least level 3,because i need trapohezedrons and they cost like 2 million each and platinum ingots are the best items and give 150k gil.

    The worse parts are:

    They don't always drop

They drop 1 at a time

They come from an enemy that is so powerfull,it takes me forever to drop one

I can't get enough tp fast enough to farm them quickly.

  • @piromaniac9999 In the same vein as Final Fantasy, there are some ridiculous elements in this game apparently. All JRPGs have them to some extent. Unfortunately, FF games have gone far beyond the limitations of how ridiculous it should get. I think the "gun blade" of FFVIII was possibly the worst weapon ever imagined in a JRPG. Yeah, even worse than launching a dog at your enemies.
