When the Jewish people started returning to the land in the late 1800's early 1900's, Arab and Jewish relations were initially not that bad. Probably because the Arab Sheiks, who were selling the land to the returning Jews at exorbitant prices, did not think that they would be able to make much out of what they considered nothing more than desolate "swamp land". However, the Jewish Zionists proved resourceful and successfully improved the conditions of the land. The real Arab revolt began in 1927 when the Arabs began protesting the rising number of Jews making aliyah (or emigration) back to the land. The tensions between the two only worsened after the Holocaust, when the Jewish people were granted by the United Nations on November 30, 1947 the right to form their own Jewish homeland. The UN's plan was immediately rejected by all the surrounding Arab/Muslim nations, who said, "No, we will not do this!" Following the UN's announcement, there was a lot of Arab violence committed against the Jews right up until the declaration of the re-birth of the State of Israel by David Ben Gurion on May 14, 1948. The Jews refused to keep the name "Palestine", which was the name given to them by their ancient enemies to mock them, but reclaimed the ancient name given to them by God, YISRAEL/ISRAEL. The Arab nations immediately declared war, and from 1948 until 1949 there was war as Egyptian forces & the other Arab allied forces gathered together to destroy the newly formed Jewish homeland. However, all the Arab forces that attacked Israel were handily and decisively defeated by God who supernaturally aided the Israeli forces.
Today the State of Israel and the Jewish people remain targeted by these same groups of people for destruction. Their ancient animosity and hatred for Israel remains as strong as ever before, and so does their determination to annihilate God's elect.
While Israel and the Jewish people remain targeted by their enemies, as being a people "chosen" for destruction. The LORD has better plans in mind for His chosen people; "good thoughts" as He said in Jeremiah 29:11-14, which reads as follows, "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of PEACE and not of EVIL, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call to Me, and will go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to THE PLACE from which I cause you to be carried away captive."
As Christians, we pray that we will never again sit idly by and watch our Jewish brothers and sisters destroyed in such an horrific, barbaric, and inhumane manner. That we, as Christians, never be complicit in such an atrocity by acts of commission or acts of omission. Lastly, we also pray that the Lord will never allow there to be another HOLOCAUST.
Our tikvah hope is in this one thing and that is the Salvation of our LORD, the Deliverer Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ is coming soon to deal with His and His people's enemies! Even so, Maranatha!
