  • Could you explain what the design flaws are?

  • The door fly doesn't zip all the way around, you have to tuck it in the bottom of the mattress at the lower section. If you are in an area with lots of insects they can easily get in through the gaps. They can also get in through the hole for the crank arm.

It's rather difficult to close as the air pushes the canvas outwards when collapsing the roof, you have to run around several times pushing the fabric back inside or it gets caught in the mechanism and can tear.

  • @machintruc313

The roof could be a little deeper so you have more space for sheets and pillows when collapsing.

An aerated floor would help reduce condensation under the mattress, allowing it to breathe better.

  • yet, you failed to mention where you got it? I have been tring to make one, yet, if they exisat already - why not.

  • @Phantasmos

Uh, I answered that in a previous comments. The one you failed to read...

    :)

The part where I'm asked "where did you purchase the tent" and I say autohomeus D@T com...

If you can build your own, go for it, there are several large design flaws in this model.

  • what roof rack did you install the tent on? and where did you purchase the tent?

  • autohomeus D@T com

    Smittybilt rack

  • Check out 'James Baroud roof top tents. Better quality and these problems have been solved.

  • Ok, thank for the input. I was looking at another roof top tent, it's French and has an aeration system plus it's a little less expensive (even after the euro conversion to dollars ) (like 1000dollars less than the maggiolina) but it seems to be less robust than this tent. Anyway It's called the" naitup".

  • it keeps you off the floor thats all that matters to me.

  • I'm certain a lion can easily jump up there if he wants. So can a bear. Hell, most times I don't even use the ladder myself.

I mainly use it for off-road camping in places like Death Valley where it's too rocky to place a tent.
