Try using the ratios KMnO4:Al:S 10:4:1. You need as little sulfur as possible otherwise it could blow up in your face when you are making it.

For KMnO4 + Al mixture you actualy dont need the sulfur , its easy to ignite it with a match or so , and a firework fuse is more than enough to light it ;)
