Oh my god... I bet half of these blabbering people don't even know what the hell they're talking about. This is why you leave it to the government to do the thinking. If you guys were really world-changers then you wouldn't be watching a kid's show and commenting on how L and his contraversial ethics can save us all. Enjoy the show and don't over think on things.

People always overthink this series. It's not meant to make you think about what justice truly is or whether or not our justice systems of today are effective, it's to entertain people with back and forth action between 2 great minds. The only real thinking you should do when watching the show or reading the manga is to realize that good and evil aren't as black and white as Light and Mikami think, there are shades of gray.

A bit of my stance after skimming through comments, No matter what is the method is to remove criminals from the world, Is just a child's play game to be truthful. Even if you change the world would with world truely change? If you sit there all day saying the world is got to change will it change? If you really want it to change, become a lawyer, join the police or politician (or other careers) are try for change and fix the system. Having people behind you is also important.

@Chaoslord789 My stance, is to quote Light Yagami from Episode One. "This world is rotten, the ones who are rotting it should die off." "Someone, someone has to do something. Even if it means sacrficing their lives and their soul! Because things can't go on like this." In Japan, they have a very strict moral and ethics code inside of their households as well as a very strict justice system. In short, Japan actually agrees with Light(relatively speaking, it's as close as we've come)

@Chaoslord789 And eventually, he becomes a degenerate. Now mind you, circumstances can change in a person's life that alters his course(for good or bad) but are we really going to leave our society to a game of chance? We can make improvements to our economic system and our society and the way we as a society interact with each other and all of the other crucial problems. But a Degenerate is a Degenerate. A Jared Loughner is a Jared Loughner no matter how many times we reform the system.
The end..İs NEAR
