Concertino for Stepper and Percussion Ensemble (2009) is an exploration of metrical friction. Within it, various duple and triple meters overlap to form a polyrhythmic synthesis. The whimsical dialogue and intertwining of these meters leads to a climactic step cadenza that explores the percussive sounds that the human body is capable of producing. A recapitulation of the piece's primary rhythmic motive brings the piece to a close.
This piece was composed in the summer of 2009 by Evan Welber, 18, at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI). It was performed on August 2, 2009, in West Street Theater, at BUTI. The performance was filmed by Jon Titus.

If I don't log on to Google one day and see that they have modified their trademark logo to, in some way, honor you as they do with Martin Luther King Jr. on his birthday, then I will be left speechless.
