http://www.behindtheburner.com "Steam 'em when you need em'" are the clever words of Chef Jehangir Mehta when it comes to his chocolate sticky buns. How does he do it? How can something so simple taste so great? Crunchy sweetness on the outside, chocolate layered goodness on the inside.

"Tip: Use a rice cooker to steam the sticky bun.
Trick: Put a wet towel over the uncooked buns to keep them moist.
Trick: You know they're done when the sticky bun bounce back at the touch.
Tip: Use a spatula to remove buns from the baking vessel.
Trick: Torch the top of the buns for a crispy bite.
Tip: You can save time and energy by buying pre-made buns at an Asian specialty market.

  • @keg265 Since their in East Village like Momofuku and David Chang, they might also buy their buns from the same supplier! lol but David Chang has the recipie online and in his book. If you wanna see them in action, type up Momofuku Pork Buns on youtube and look for the video with the gir making them from scratch. lol

  • Is there any recipe for making homemade steam buns?

  • Chef Mehtas cooking style is a magical combination of simplicity and precision. Never expected a combination of Coffee, bun, sugar and some chocolate could churn out something so amazing. Surprisingly they are very easy to prepare! It felt like heaven when the soft yet slightly crunchy bun with chocolate base went down my throat. The crunchy crust at the top of the bun melted in my mouth & made me yearn for more. Chef Mehta is an expert at making simple dishes that stimulate the taste buds.

  • doesn't look like a typical sticky bun, but it looks great
