  • Van the Man! Van's drawl and falsetto adds sooo much to an already perfect song. I love Pink Floyd, but this version is by far the most moving... Van's vocals are simply otherworldly.

As for the comments about Roger turning to the audience to lipsync, you should notice that all the vocals are off... I've seen the DVD many times - its just the transfer.

This was one of the most prolific concerts in history, on the site of the Berlin Wall that had fallen a year before.

  • @NuReality2009 While I don't buy in into the hype (no offense), like "simply otherworldly" and stuff like that and I don't even know who that Van is, I really, really, really love this version.

I listened to quite some other versions, but this is by far the most impressive and the refrain is soooooooooo emotional and chilling to me. :)

  • i want this song played at my funeral

  • This is NOT Pink Floyd...This is ROGER WATERS. ..Live in Berlin... Also onstage are members of The Band- Rick Danko, Levon Helm, and Garth Hudson.... & the Rundfunk Orchestra & Choir, guitar solos by Rick DiFonzo & Snowy White.

  • do you recognize me? I was driving that ambulance

  • My favorite version of C.N. and my favorite video. Can listen to this one over and over again.

  • poor david...

  • @jwickham65 Sorry, not diminishing the weight of the location or meaning of the song. I just don't care for the way it sounds. As far as I'm concerned Gilmour is the main ingredient of Floyd to start with and over the years that seems to be the sentiment. I love this song, just not this rendition and particularly the harmonies, that's all.

  • @MrMrtapeguy, not sure what you mean. Maybe you don't fully appreciate the weight of the location of this performance, the meaning of the song, the performers on stage. This is a powerful, devastating performance. Listen to the music of Van Morrison, The Band, Pink Floyd. Read about the Berlin Wall, Communism, the threats to the World following World War II, the enormity of the breach of that Wall...then come back and listen to this again.
