Chiapas, Mexico - Weaving and daily life in highland Chiapas, Mexico

An extended family of weavers in Chenalhó, Chiapas carry out their daily lives on a late afternoon in February 2009. Lucia Pérez, mother of 10, winds threads to begin a weaving while her daughter, María del Carmen, has already started to weave on her back-strap loom. Other family members, including Angélica, Lucias mother, carry water from the nearby well.

The mexican government knows what it is doing it has its indig people poor on purpose its very political and racial.Its always been this way for this country thats why there was so many revolutions stupid mexico officials

No, i am not from Chiapas but half of my roots begin there. I am from the U.S and i went down there, i;ve done it, seen it, lived it, slept it, ate it, drank it, breathed it That indeed does include the highlands and secluded villages. And it is an extraordinary experience to say the very least. Done it three times already and i'de be down to do it again ANY time. Peace out
