However, I do believe the reputable scientists who say that climate change is taking place, and that we need to do something about it. You do have to admit the science behind that concept of global warming is correct.

I don't think I am incorrect, we get a chance to vote for the people in office, its is just that most people don't bother following up and letting the elected officails know. However, I completly agree that government is run by special intrest groups. In fact I would argue that it is these special intrests groups that have created the idea that climate change is a lie!
