I can stay up all night trying to explain the discipline that karate is in, but you would not understand ... u can learn it by yourself... for exemple: the philosophy of karate shotokan is life ;)
Karate is practiced by many people the world over as an art a martial art, to say it should only be practiced by bodyguards i'm sorry i dont agree, most bodygauards would more than likely be armed in the situations you mention taking away the need for Karate (empty hand) I practice Karate and have done for thirty years, but i also practice Tai chi, Fujian white crane from the Fujian province.

Karate should indeed only be practiced by bodyguards, specifically, people who protect presidents or kings, or primse ministers, where its okay to be cold blooded in the name of defense. For average folks like me though, Tai Chi is the order of the day. If bodyguards do practice it, they should train like this.

It is done with jow. Just make sure you don't have any open wounds where you're applying it.
