Boxing Hall of Famer and mayor of Managua, Alexis Arguello has been found dead at his home in Nicaragua, and there's a report he had a gunshot wound in his chest. (July 1)
Alexis Arguello was one of the best boxers in the world. He was a champion who had great sportsmanship in and out side of the ring, he fought for the pride for his country and people. Alexis was loved by his countrymen and all of the boxing world, for being a warrior in the ring, a hero and kind and generous man. The man from Nicaragua will be remembered by all in years to come. God be with you Mr. Arguello.
the best latin fighter of all time...what a fighter...was so sad that he kill himself drugs , ba life why? he had a lot to live for my wife is from the same town[managua] rip champ
It's hard to understand the things that motivate a man to end his life. He was a man of great accomplishments but after the glory, real day to day life sets in, and in Nicaragua, things can be much tougher. I have had periods of great sadness and feelings of total worthlessness, compounded with the frustration of failure. In moments like those I came to understand why some give in to it all. It's just a sad story to hear of his death and you wish he could have found help first.
@Goldenboy1947 Oh, I agree with you. There're suggestions that there might be foul play involved in Alexis death for he was planning on leaving the political arena after realizing that the Ortega regime was just trying to use him to appeal to the masses. Also, his children said that there was no reason for him to commit suicide for he was still young, in good health and excited about resumming his civilian life after his disenchantment with the politicians.

I just found out Alexis had died. I'm surprised. He was everything I admired in a fighter. He was a true warrior in the ring.
