Precocious seven-year-old Samantha talks about unemployment in the United States and explains that "immigrants do NOT steal jobs". Her three-minute-long socio-economic commentary is followed by seven minutes of funny bloopers.

My daughter and I created the video after our Mexican-born neighbors (who were in the US illegally) and their three-year-old (American-born) daughter were forced to move to another town by a bullying police officer. My two daughters were good friends with the three-year-old and they were very disappointed that she had to go. I, myself, was very fond of the family too, but my own attempts to help and protect the family failed. My daughter asked me if there was something SHE could do. Creating a cool video (addressing the issue of immigration) was the best I could think of. My daughter and I both had fun making the video.

  • Basically this girl is saying that immigrants do increase the supply of labor, but they also increase the aggregate demand for the output of labor. Well the N.B.E.R. (National Bureau of Economic Research) would agree with her as they came to the same conclusion themselves. (Feel free to look it up... The study was titled "The Effect of Immigration on Productivity: Evidence from US States") Samantha is a smart kid. I hope she runs for office when she grows up.

  • @DorothyBaby2000

Thank you! I Googled the study you referred to and found a cool article in the Huffington Post that shows Samantha was SPOT ON about immigration! (I'll post the link in the video description for those who want to read it.)

  • this is what happens when a child is used to express an adults ideas

What? Clarity? I bet Samantha knows how to use punctuation.

  • While I liked the points made by this, what was the real purpose of using a little girl in the video? Was it to appeal to people that otherwise wouldn't listen?

  • Ace vid:) Clearly, this little girl has been affected by the way her country responds to immigrants: she has seen the effects of policy on her friend and her friend's family. So, how does one keep a child away from politics when it so forcibly intrudes on her life?

This idea of children remaining politically 'innocent' doesn't gel with my own experience of being around kids of that age. My nieces at that age were making 'plays' celebrating multiculturalism and arguing against racism. an

  • thanks!! great video to bring out a gueniune problem. people should know and think about this. Great job!!!!!

  • your home is a shit-hole. looks like mexico already took over that part.

  • @jackopht First off your full of shit. One of my best friends did this in less than 4 years. Second, they can join the military and get their citizenship almost instantly, and 3rd, this is NOT my problem or that of the United States. We do NOT owe any one anything.... PERIOD You do not help your liberal cause by making up bullshit facts and expecting everyone to believe them, you just hurt your cause.

  • Love the video! :)

  • @hog1775

There is a 15-year waiting list (for Mexicans) that involves enough red-tape to choke a horse. I sincerely wish that you wake up tomorrow to discover that you and your parents moved to the USA when you were a baby and the government forces you to undergo the ridiculous process of becoming a US citizen. I bet you would squeal like a pair of bad breaks. I also doubt that you would be willing "stick to the law" if that meant leaving the US for years while filing for citizenship.

  • Awww.... So let me get this right. A pair of illegals move here and have a kid here in the States and are forced to move. Why didn't they follow the rules of this land? Why are they so willing to break the law to get what they want with no consideration for this country and our laws? Maybe you should big a big boy and not let your feelings get in the way and stick to the LAW

  • What a great Movie and a Great Kid.... Cheers ...keep up the great work young lady and you'll be President one day! I know I would vote for you!

  • Your daughters are adorable and the bloopers are VERY amusing. It is obvious that both you and Samantha had a lot of fun making your video together. You are lucky to have such a close relationship with your daughter. Bravo!
