Yep. My grandparents Ray and Alice (Peg) McCabe had a farm just outside Pukekawa, which Sir Ed used to visit on his bee-keeping rounds. Mum grew up on that farm not far from Tuakau, Pukekawa, Pukekohe - which are all familiar names to me.

RIP Hillary a great man. as for tourists leaving their rubbish behind... take them up the mountain and drop them cunts down the steepest cliff.

Remembering Edmund Hillary 1 year after his death.

The photo shown in the video when they say 'photos of the summit' is not the summit. As I stated, there are no photos of Hillary on the summit. Yes, the actual photos taken at the summit were taken by Hillary. And Hillary didn't always state they did it together. After Tenzing died in 1986, Hillary made a claim at a press conference in 1991 that he stepped up first. He broke the affidavit they signed in Kathmandu, and more sadly, he broke his gentlemen's agreement with Tenzing Norgay.

Hillary didn't answer the question of who got there first until after tenzings death in '86, and he was reluctant to do so I think.

Look at that headline: "First man to climb Mount Everest dies." How very Western.
Tenzing wasn't "Hillary's sherpa." Tenzing was a full member of the climbing team, and did more on the expedition than any one man did, including Hillary.
The photo shown in the video when they say 'photos of the summit' is not the summit, it's of a higher camp. There are no photos of Hillary on top.
