During the 60s & 70s, Ahmid Zahir was the King of Afghanistan pop music, an exotic Elvis lookalike gifted with a powerful tenor voice.
He was a star in his native country composing many songs and recording 19 albums. Some of his lyrics were revolutionary and caused a stirr in the political circles of Afghanistan back at the time.
Sadly, he was killed in 1979 by the order of a communist general who hated Ahmid because his political stance was at odds with the communist government of the time.
For this exciting Guerssen compilation, we've selected the most psych-folk-exotic-pop sounding Zahir tracks, recorded in the late 60s and early 70s and remastered from the master tapes.
