Chair of the University of Michigan's Department of Neurosurgery, Dr. Karin Muraszko shines as both a brain surgeon and a person. In this moving video, originally produced by Michigan Television for the Big Ten Network, Dr. Muraszko describes the challenges of brain surgery, overcoming disability and sexism, and helping families face the possible loss of a child.

  • Dr. Muraszko is definitely an amazing doctor! As a patient with Spina Bifida, she was able to not only care for me as any doctor would, but she could also understand my struggles because she, as well, has SB. I'm blessed to have had her as my pediatric neurosurgeon!

  • Dr. Muraszko is incredible. We are privileged to have her as our 10 year old son's neurosurgeon. She is divinely special in ways that I can not put into words. Without a doubt, we have always placed our trust in her and her capabilities. Beyond her being the physician for our precious son, she is an absolutely amazing person. We are truly blessed to have her in our lives as a physician and as a fellow human being. May God bless her and her family always. Julie, Tim, Ben
