That was an inadequate test for at least two reasons. First the moose is to tall, second the legs are soft and the moose is dangling i wires. I have seen many cars that hit a moose and almoust every time the moose hit the windscreen. Never the less: It´s not recommended to hit a moose whit your car, better then to steer in to the ditch.

@dave11686 Airbags are deployed in accidents where the car hits something solid and it crumples; the moose's legs weren't enough to trigger the sensors.

Did they disable the airbags for the test? They did not deploy.

The vehicle was on. The airbags normally won't deploy in this situation.
