Paul Maynard MP for Blackpool North & Cleveleys discusses child and junior ISAs as a potential replacement for the 'child trust fund' policy introduced by the previous Labour government.

Concentrating on improving the effectiveness of savings funds, how widely ISAs are presently used by younger families and factoring in that financial education is a growing sector, Paul shows that for many families in need of reciept of a 'child trust fund' a junior ISA may be a more welcomed option.

Highlighting for instance a family with a disabled child who could use the money for a respite break or exta care, or children who are particularly vulnerable who may need acess to money before the age of 18 to improve their standards of living & education Paul shows that it can be vital that the money be made available when the child is in need and not locked away until the child is 18 years old. This could be achieved via the concept of a junior ISA.

Paul tries to direct the conversation as to whether the 'child trust fund' is the most appropriate use of public money when it comes to helping those most in need in our society and is open to discuss new and varying ways to better help young persons from all backgrounds.
