In Pas de Dirt, director Peter DiMuro transports Swan Lake to a construction site where nimble dancers go toe-to-toe with a group of engineering vehicles. After riffing beautifully on DNA with Ferocious Beauty: Genome last month, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange keeps its torrid streak going with a site-specific piece for the public art project "Street Scenes: Projects for D.C.," designed to investigate man's relationship with technology. That often arcane area of sociological research will assume immediate relevance when the propane-powered backhoes (and their operators) try to keep up with the pointe work of the professional dancers and ballet students rounding out the ensemble. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/display.php?id=1556
