Lyrics:
You come home after a long day at school
Your homework's piled up to your nose
Your head starts a-droopin' and you're feeling really drowsy.
Why, you're in the Alpha Stage of sleep.
The Alpha Stage only comes once in a cycle,
Similar to Stage One.
The difference is in Stage One you're kind of asleep,
But, it's very light and also short.
Next we arrive at Stage number two where your body starts to relax.
Muscle tension, heart rate, and body temperature decline.
That homework's gotta wait until morning.
Welcome to Stages Three and Four!
Some might call it "slow wave" sleep.
You're in a deep, deep sleep and you'll return here again
After stage two and your dreams.
Rapid Eye Movement! We've finally arrived
To the most exciting part of your night's sleep.
Breathing, heart rate, and brain wave activity have kicked into gear.
Can't wait to hear what your subconscious came up with.
Dreams are a funny thing. There have been a few theories.
Sigmund Freud and the unconscious mind theory.
Hosbin and McCarly think that dreams are uselss.
And Cartwright believes in the extension of waking life.

You wake up and you feel rejuvinated.
Time to go back to school and learn.
Learn! Is it classical or operant? Why don't we take a look?
Are you associating a response with a stimulus?
You could be classically conditioned.
Or maybe you're experiencing Thorndike's "law of effect."
If that's the case, then it's operant.
The two are effective, whichever way you learn.
Just make sure you're on a schedule of reinforcement.

I hope you can remember all of this information I'm singing to you
I'm sure you've got room in your short-term memory
For a few last words.
There's your declaritive memory and non-declarative.
Together, they cover everything.
First you encode it, and then you store it,
and finally your memories can be retrieved.
But rehearse your knowledge or else it will get lost.
I hope most of this sticks into your long-term memory
Or else I just wasted your time.
