  • Thanks for this response! I figured that if Novaes went to study with Chiafarellli when she was 7, Rudge, 17 at the time, may well have been Chiafarelli's assistant in teaching her. I have read that Chiafarelli had studied with Busoni, who was ten years his junior. Who else did Chiafarelli study with? It is unfortunate that Rudge, who plays here so brilliantly, married all too early in life! This must have militated against the development of a major concert career of the sort Novaes had. True?

  • Yes, yes, it´s all true :) I readed something like that now ;)

  • I had never heard of Mme. Rudge before! Here she is playing a piece one would definitely associate with her pupil Novaes...when did Novaes study with her? I have read that Novaes studied with Luigi Chiafarelli and then with Philipp. This playing rates 5 stars for sure. Thanks to pianopera for sending this on.

  • GM studied with Luigi Chiafarelli AND Antonietta Rudge. Both of them started playing very early( Rude and Novaes) Luigi Chiafarelli was an italian professor very celebrate in Brazil, at that time. Antonietta Rudge was married with the english and famous football player Charles Muller and stoped her carreer because of the marriage very soon, (1902-1920), then becaming only a great Professor in Brazil.
