Our G scale train club (Arizona Big Train Operators) held it's annual January meeting at my house on Saturday 01-16-2010. Approximately 105 members showed up along with 400 other individuals to see the trains run on the Palo Verde & Southwestern Railroad.

Two really impressive trains that you will see is a U.P. Big Boy pulling 121 ore cars and a S.P. (4) unit lashup towing over 35 flats of lumber. And every piece of lumber was hand cut and stacked on each flatcar. It took several months to accomplish this task.

I hope you enjoy this open house video!

  • I have seen some of your vids. About how many trains would you say you have and in what state do you live in?

The layout is in Mesa, Arizona, which is right next to Phoenix. The mainline consists of 5,466 feet of track and the yard areas take up another 1,965 feet. There are 132 switches which are all air activated. And we are also in the process of adding 1,800 more feet of track.

As far as the inventory goes, here is what I have to date:

    Locomotives: 389

    Rolling Stock: 4, 275

    Passenger Cars: 273

    Thanks,

    Dennis
