Tuvalu and the island states have been standing up for their right to survive by ensuring that the negotiations continue on a binding, science based deal. While this has somewhat stalled negotiations, African nations soon joined Tuvalu's leadership and organized their own events.

On Saturday, 100,000 people marched in the streets of Copenhagen to demand a fair, ambitious, and binding treaty. This was the largest mobilization in favor of climate action in history.
