Les Paul had nothing to do with the design of the SG, and pulled his sponsership within a year of the guitar's release. Gibson was trying to modernize the Les Paul (and probably trying to lower the production cost), and redesigned the guitar without his involvement. Les Paul has always played the single-cutatway type Les Pauls. Only the first runs of the SG had his name on the instrument.
Mary Ford, however, has been seen using the SG model.

les paul designed and built the SG, if you look at early ones it has a little plate between the neck and the first pickup with his name on it. he sold the rights to gibson so he wouldn't have to give his ex wife half of the profits from it

stop that!

les paul is a guitar player! I'm trying to play a bit like him here. ... and an SG is Solid Guitar, that is what I'm using to do so. My bad.
