OK, so I'm being a little bias by calling these the BEST transitioning tips, but...who gon' check me boo??? lol

Anyhow, I've been meaning to put these together for y'all and I finally got a chance to sit down and DO it! Understand that the information in this video is presented to be used as a GUIDE, not the "long-term transitioning law". At the end of the day, you have to do [and USE] whats best for YOU, your hair & your lifestyle...

The vid is a little long [but it is GOOD] so I'm putting the navigation cues below for those of you who just don't wanna sit through the whole nineteen minute & twenty-four second video. Now, just a lil' warning :)

There ARE some soap box moments in this video...you know how I do!

Also, in the "Heat" section, I do want to point out that misuse of indirect heat can damage your hair just as bad as direct heat can!

OK that's it for now!

Thanks so much for watching y'all!

  • Thanks for the video, as always they are helpful. But I do have to disagree about the definition of "natural hair". Women who wear braidouts and twistouts aren't wearing their hair in it's "natural state" either. Unless you are rocking an afro, realistically you are not wearing your hair in it's "natural" state. I think that natural hair is simply hair that is not processed with chemicals:)

Just my thoughts, but I will continue to look forward to your vids!

    -8 mos transitioning so far:)

  • @morganeblack84 congrats on 8 months into your transition! my definition of natural hair is:

hair, that when wet down with water, returns to the state/texture/curl pattern which grows NATURALLY from your scalp

for me, this includes chemically processed, heat trained/damaged and/or any other treatment that alters the hair to the point that when the hair is soaked, the roots are a different texture than the ends

this is why braid/twist out styles ARE natural & heat damaged hair is not

  • Gurl the hair is so fly! Is it a twist out?

  • @thebeautifulcoils thanks! naw...it's the method i used in video #97. right now i'm preferring this style to my usual twist outs because i don't have to manipulate my hair as much :)

  • I enjoyed the video; although, im on the fence as far as straightening while transitioning. I am 7 months post, have only straightened once but am considering doing it every so often. Heat may be the "debil," but it was hella easier to comb/detangle my hair! To each his own, right? I will find my way. Thanks for being an inspiration!

  • @Aja1222 everything in moderation...i heat straightened my hair while transitioning, but i never used it as my primary method of blending my ends or to "train" my new growth. you will definitely find your way! you're doing the right thing by simply hanging in there!

  • Thank you for posting this! Your video gave me lots of inspiration to follow thru w/ long term transitioning. I'm just about to begin my long term-transition in a couple of weeks...

  • @huneebunch1901 I detangle my hair in the shower. As for time: Have you tried the baggy method? It might help you save some time in between work and school, I use ti myself when things get hasty.

  • @morganeblack84 I'd consider those natural hair. It's just like putting your hair into a ponytail. It doesn't make it any less natural, it's just a style. There are many ways to style natural hair, braids, twist outs, etc. but that does not make it "non-natural". As long as its the natural texture of the hair that grows from the scalp, I consider it natural. Congrats on your transition, I'm a few months in myself.

  • Love the information. Thank you I am a new transitioner for the second time just like you;) I feel I will do better this time because I am better educated about my hair. I still have a lot more to learn but so far I feel I am doing great! I luv my new growth and the fact that I can long term transition, and not have to worry about cutting my hair right now!

  • I love your hair in this vid. Super cute

  • This is excellent! Thanks! I tried to transition before while I was working and going to school full-time, but the detangling took SO long that I just didn't have time for it. I'm starting to transition again (only about 2 months post, but probably more since my last relaxer didn't take in some places), so I look forward to using your videos to help me this time around.

  • Hello, am about 6months post relaxer. I'm getting breakage almost everytiime I do my hair, its not always as bad n I Dnt really mind to much. I deep condition once a week also co wash. Do u have any tips to minimizing the breakage?

  • Hi, tomorrow im going to make 7 months of post relaxer, the other day i blew out my hair for church. it was a mess cause my natural hair was so puffy and it is lighter than my relaxed hair, so when there is a lot of humidity going on it turn out to be chaos. so my friend was telling me that i need a relaxer. this means that she doesnt support the idea of me being natural and it made me feel a little down cause coming from my culture, a woman only looks good when she has straight hair. help plz
