1930s Recession = Today Recession (that could deepen)
Hitler's attack on the Reichstag for to get into power in 1933 = WTC to go to war in 2001
1918 Spanish Flu hits in Spring killing little like today's flu then returning in the flu season to kill between 50-100 million = the small percentile of people killed in Spring in 2009 and we have the winter to see if this is another case of history repeating itself.

Something is a bit strange with the manual and the game trailer though. The manual states "virulent disease" the trailer says "Avian influenza in 09". I thought that was fairly odd.
I thought Assassins Creed was pretty mystic but Frontlines I can see every time I switch on the news. Also all written before there was an avian outbreak in 09 lol, before the economy started to die. Someone slap me please.

Try reading the manual also.
It even talks about the recession and that it was being called the same as the "dirty thirties". Also with failing business's and other things.
Search for the manual using "frontlines: fuel of war manual" in google and click the third link to read it for yourself.
This is one of the most mysterious game stories ever told for the reason being that this was all written when things were going good. Avian mention in 09, failing businesses left right and centre....
