From the Ampico recordings. Piano rolls. This is amazing. Score is clearer in fullscreen.

  • What kind of subhuman would mark down this performance!

  • @sammarco02 A person who is exactly as you describe; a subhuman.

  • Can someone explain to me how this counts as an actual recording? I understand the idea of the piano rolls seems similar to early computer's that used punch cards as a medium for memory but how exactly does this work? Other recordings of this work seem to take terrible liberties with tempo and spacing...

  • imagine in what an emotional state he must have - he was only 19!

  • You can always count on Rachmaninoff to not play what he's written at least a couple times throughout any piece of his that he's playing...but I guess he totally has a right to do that :)

  • quando le macchine suonano Rachmaninoff ... Ampico recordings. Piano rolls .... watch?v=9x3B1YwZxzc

  • The single most beautiful and deeply emotional piano composition ever. Rachmaninoff's performance is painfully beautiful and enthralling. Thank you for the upload :-)

  • I love it, I'm actually crying right now....

  • That was terrific! Thanks @OverFjell
