The best part is how Soundwave won't respond to her goading. Not even a sound clip. Nothing. He just refuses to acknowledge her sense of authority. Then, when attacked, he defends himself in a minimum of movement, ends the fight efficiently and still doesn't say a word.

I think he knows how intimidating his silence and lack of emotion can be, and USES this, further enforcing this intimidation through his lack of body language. His apparent lack of emotion casts him as untouchable and fearsome.

Soundwave was the commander before Starscream for a reason: he was always loyal to his lord and master. Airachnid challenged him by trying to take power that was rightfully Megatron's. For that, she had to be reminded of what happens to traitors.
