Israel's supreme court has given the go-ahead for a Jewish Museum of Tolerance to be built on the site of a Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem.

The decision has outraged many people who see the move as yet another attempt to erase ancient Arab heritage in the city.

The cemetery is said to contain bones dating back to the earliest decades of Islam in the 7th century.

Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros reports.

  • Wow...how hypocritical!!!!

Calling it the "tolerance" museum and pushing to build it on a sacred Muslim graveyard!!

  • Would you say that if it was the reverse i.e. a Muslim museum over a Jewish cemetery?

  • Jews are bandits.

  • @GodsGayLover What you fail to realise is that I WAS talking to an individual and pointing out HIS individual hypocrisy by pointing out intolerance in one group but ignoring intolerance in another. What is absurd and stupid is that you actually think you got me. Don't just read a comment on a video and draw conclusions, ignoring the attendant PM's and channel comments that supplement the exchange behind the scenes. Thank you very much.

  • @TADahar The problem with what you are trying to point out is that Arabs and Muslims are individuals. Some might demand tolerance whilst others are intolerant, some might demand tolerance of themselves but be intolerant of others. To call all Arabs and Muslims hypocrites simple because so individuals demand tolerance and some are intolerant is absurd and stupid. You might as well call the entire human race hypocrites because some want tolerance and others are intolerant.

  • @TADahar

Yes or no question. You can't answer.

If group X desecrates the cultural history of group Y does that justify group Y to intentionally do the same to group X?

    Yes? No?

You can't answer. Your conscience knows the correct answer so you'll get around what you know to be true and say "Well, but, this or that must be factored into the consideration that so-and-so happened here-or-there..."

Think about it. I hope someday in the future your answer will bother you.

  • @badgeless I have a feeling that you don't even get yourself. So how could I possibly understand?

  • @TADahar

    You don't get it.

Please read the next sentence carefully, I'll highlight the parts you don't understand: "Arab and Muslims are special to me ONLY IN THAT THEY ARE HUMANS, like me, who deserve the same human rights as you and I do."

As in: "Americans and Baptists are special to me ONLY IN THAT THEY ARE HUMANS, like me..."

Or, "TADahar is special to me ONLY IN THAT HE/SHE IS HUMAN and deserves the same human rights as everyone"

I know you still don't get it. Maybe someday.

  • @sufihasan Are there churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia? Are Saudi Arabians allowed any other religion besides Islam?

RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE - don't just preach it.... mate.
