  • Why were Kathryn Smallwood and Grace Jackson absent? What were their times? Howcome Lannaman ran so poorly but able to come back to anchor England to gold in the 4x100??

  • @PKCW22 Kathy Smallwood was supposed to be doing the 400m aswell, but the selectors felt she might not go the distance! It would have been good experience for her leading into the Olympics '84. As for Sonia, she hadn't really run that well all year due to a couple of early season injuries. But yes, it was a good anchor by her!

  • You rock athlete5399 ... but Angella was never found to be on drugs nor did she ever have a postive test...she confessed ...at Canada's dubin inquiry.. what a waste of time and money... Love you amazing post of the commonwealth track and field ..thanks so much.. do you have the 400m womens from 82?

  • Hi Karrtt, yes i do have the 1982 womens 400m commonwealths. I'll dig it out and put it on for you!

  • @ fuckdowg Further she was never cleared immediately, her case had to go through the Court of Arbitration, (because of both samples testing positive) so u seem to know very little about the situation. I can appreciate that u r a fan... but your information is far from the truth. The truth is that she is a long time drug cheat who finally got caught !!

  • @fuckdowg ..sorry sir but your information is wrong.. if u knew anything about the process and her appeal, both A & B samples must test positive for anything to go forward.. her case was dismissed on technicalities, because the IAAF couldn't determine whether a mistake had been made within the time given by CAS, sinced that time elapsed, the mistake in the lab was rectified and it was too late, since CAS had ruled, thus WADDA was formed ! she is a cheat who got off on legalities. Drug cheat !!

  • anyone who competed up until the mid 1980s were using at least some drugs...it really was the minority who were clean. im an advocate against drugs but know the history and chronology of usage and therefore am a realist about T&F to the late 1980s. I dont consider anyone drug cheats until after that period..sad for those who were clean i know, but MANY used. In addition, once you get the benefits of drugs, they dont completely go away..so if u come back clean, you still have an advantage.

  • Merelene Ottey was just like the GDR athletes, used drugs throughout her career....

  • @PKCW22 The only country close to England in the final of the 4 x 100 was Canada; and Molly Killingbeck who anchored Canada was a 400 meter runner, who 100 meter P.B. was above 11.50, so that surely had something to do with why Sonia ran away from her on the anchor leg.

  • colleen beasley-pekin was the true champion

  • its the americans which try to drug her up

  • Great race and nice sprinting by the 1 and 2 here.

  • cheap ? U should really get an education BGAT07!!
