Charlie Rich is my favorite country singer. Modern country, or most any modern music for that matter, is awful. They mostly write songs about stupid stuff. I am 16, and I don't care if my friends make fun of me, because I refuse to listen to the noise they try and pass off as music.

40 years ago my mom walked out on my dad and I remember he sat on a red leather stool in the living room with a glass of ice bathed in amber liquid and bawled like a baby. He was an unlimited hydroplane racer and my mom was a beauty. I was young and didn't know what to do. He cried and played this record over and over until she came home.

They just celebrated their 50th anniversary and will die in each other's arms. I remember this like it was yesterday.
