Mabel the borzoi aged 2 years in a photo session at Bramall Hall. Typically for her, she spent the whole time woofing and trying to chase other dogs. Her first two years were touch and go due to a growth problem, and after several ops she has a plate in her wrist and a pin in her elbow. She has missed her early training. But no worries for dear Mabel, she's a happy girl and a right pickle.
So the music suits her. It's "Samovars" sung by first soloist Victor Ivanovich Nikitin (Виктор Иванович Никитин) and second soloist S. Tibaev with the Alexandrov Ensemble, conducted by Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov (1941). It's apparently an army drinking song, but it's ambiguous. You can't tell whether it's about throwing tea at people they don't like, or about firing heavy mortars (nicknamed "samovars") at the enemy. Either way they're partying and playing sillybeggers, and it shows another side to Nikitin.

Kievest, she could probably jump very high, but I dare not let her, as her front legs are disabled, and she would hurt them on landing.
My previous borzoi, Pollo, was born because his borzoi dad, Charlie, got over a chickenwire fence 12 foot high in the breeder's compound. Pollo's mum was a registered borzoi too, but she had recently had another litter . . .
