In 3D space it's possible to represent 4D information (3 spatial dimensions + color/shape/label) which is not easy to achieve in 2D, that's one of the advantages of 3D visualization.
Seems more showy that practical. The tree approach makes sense. Looking at all those 'folders' and the data and the 3d look just looks confusing, and finding files/directories/data seems a bit confusing.
@progolffit I just find the cycling camera confusing. The 4D-approach is actually a nice idea.
