I am training some 3 year olds right now and some of them are born to slide! I have one right now who slides 20+feet. Then I have one who I have to do some work on. I just walk or jog around the arena an say woah and put my feet out. When they stop I pet them then back them up a little bit. Then I will do that about 10 times then call it a day. When you run a horse to the wall(fencing) I is to keep them straight and make them go long.

What ever happen to Matt Mills, he has not placed high in an event since Easy retired. Maybe it is true what the other trainers say, he nothing but a one horse wonder.

Matt Mill's horses looked natural and free moving - a couple of black horses were taking a close look at the ground thru entire run - such a shame to see potentially beautiful ability "reined" into a hunched up short striding horse that's seems to be overworked and waiting for the next cue. But, as I said in some other comments, I guess that's the in thing, the more hunched up, the higher the score. Prefer the old way. Saw the Finals several times years ago in OKC since I live in the area.

the last horse..mm, hes cute. and the little buckskin in there, personal favorite.
this is probably the best reining vedio ive ever seen, it highlights it really well

its not all transitions. its just teaching the horse to stop when you quit riding and the slide comes along. fencing also doesnt have to be 'brutal' or abusive. the good trainers just run the horse up to a fence (a tall one that cant be jumped like on the ends of my trainers arena) and make the horse stop exactly when they stop riding it and really sit their butt in the ground.
Yes, in the main arena.
