  • I worked for a fortune 50 company - not only did marketing not talk to customers - they didn't even talk to employees. It will take an enormous culture change to move people like this.

  • Marketing lunacy to have the most senior people furthest from the customers? Well, I partially agree since they should be talking to the most important customers and to a sample of every important category of customer. But they cannot talk to everyone.  The important thing is for them to empower those who work for them to be able to talk and resond on behalf of the company. They need to set some limits but they have to trust their employees.
