An unveiling video of the new $100 bill released on Wed, April 21, 2010. The first bills are expected to ship mid-February 2011. One of the most prominent features of this bill is the 3D security thread, which changes from $100 to a liberty bell when tilted, much like that of the euro.

**Press Release**
On February 10, 2011, businesses and consumers will see their money move in a whole new way. The U.S. government will issue a redesigned $100 note with two new advanced security features: a blue 3-D Security Ribbon and a color-shifting Bell in the Inkwell.

You cant miss the blue 3-D Security Ribbon on the front of the new $100 note. The ribbon seems to be three-dimensional with bells and numeral 100s appearing to float or glide above the ribbon as you move the note. Youll know a new $100 note is genuine by tilting the note back and forth while focusing on the ribbon. You will see the bells change to 100s as they move. Its that simple.

A second new security feature on the new $100 note, also on the front of the note, is the Bell in the Inkwell. At first, the bell blends with the inkwell because they are the same copper color, but when you tilt the note, the bell changes to green. This color shift makes the bell seem to appear and disappear within the inkwell.

In addition to these new security features, the government also retained three highly effective security features from the old $100 note design, including:
•Portrait Watermark Hold the note to light to see a faint image of Benjamin Franklin in the blank space to the right of the large portrait. It is visible from either side of the note.
•Security Thread Hold the note to light to see an embedded thread that runs vertically to the left of the portrait. The letters USA and the numeral 100 appear in an alternating pattern and can be seen from both sides of the note. The thread glows pink when illuminated by ultraviolet light.
•Color-Shifting 100 Tilt the note to see the numeral 100 in the lower right corner of the front of the note change from copper to green.

  • 100 years ago a production worker at Ford Motors made about $1300 dollars annual salary. Paid in silver backed certificate dollars and silver coinage.

Today, 1300 morgan dollars, made of silver, would sell for about $31,000.

and remember, there was no income tax in 1910.

Gold and silver are money. these "federal reserve notes" will be worthless one day

  • When I heard people voting for Obama I heard my paycheck ripping in half.

  • put the 3d ribbon some where eles, US money use to be the most beautiful, unique and shown Art to our currency. Now it's garbage monoploy money.

  • nice sec features... some countries in africa have them on their money for decades... but i think, that one day the people all over the world will pay their bills and debts with EUROs, because US-money is based on debts, EURO-money is based on business... and business in Europe is much stronger than in the US...

  • @rllang01 - They already are (worthless) in my opinion... only reason the giant bubble that is the USDollar is still alive is because of perceived/extrinsic value (we still bust our asses for it and invest our real time, energy, effort, and ideas for it) ... anyways, nobody beats the Fed at counterfeiting, they've got the whole world running on monopoly funny-money, they are some real miracle workers those boys at the fed

  • @alex0962 - well now we will be able to verify and authenticate that it is a worthless piece of paper and distinguish it from any other fake worthless pieces of paper (whether foreign or domestic or otherwise).

  • YESSSSSSS....brand new $100 bills....only $199.95 each from our friends at the federal reserve....go FED!!!

  • very soon... I'll be able to wipe my ass with that thing. and it'll be cheaper than toilet paper...

  • soon to be worth $0.00100

  • at the rate the government is printing and spending money, it would be cheaper to let people counerfit it themselves to stimulate the economy.

  • I notice they left room for lots more zeros
